If you have your heart set on going to Molokini Crater on a morning trip (and it’s a good goal), the Four Winds Maui is one of the most delightful snorkel cruises you can enjoy. We take pride in giving you a friendly crew, a spotless, stable, and spacious boat, and an exceptionally fun time! Our crew members are truly happy and engaging with guests of all ages, especially kids!
Four Winds Maui is a 55 foot catamaran that leaves from Maalaea Harbor. It features a water slide, a below-deck viewing room with a glass bottom, a stereo sound system with great tunes, freshwater showers, and two BBQ grills as well as a refreshing open bar, sundeck, covered deck, and three ladders that lead to the water. While you’re snorkeling, the crew will fire up the grills and fix you a yummy BBQ lunch you’re sure to enjoy. (Make sure to ask the bartender for some ginger ale, too; it is made right there with real ginger, and it is truly awesome.)
Molokini is an amazing coral reef nestled inside a volcanic crater. You are sure to see many colorful fish and other types of marine life while floating there. Make sure to check the view above the surface, too, because Molokini is a bird preserve as well as a marine life preserve! Some of the natural wonders at the crater have feathers. If visibility is not great at the crater due to the weather patterns of the day, the captain will generally choose to visit another gorgeous site called Coral Gardens, off the west coast of Maui.
All levels of snorkelers are welcome, and all the basic equipment including prescription masks, aids to flotation, and even kickboards with built-in viewing portholes is provided. The crew will answer any questions you have about snorkeling and the use of the equipment, and they will be on deck and in the water while you snorkel. (Safety first!) If you want to add more fun for an additional fee, you can conveniently rent underwater cameras, wetsuits, and more! SNUBA is also available as an add-on activity.
Four Winds Maui brings a talented Marine Naturalist and Videographer to take video and photos of you while you’re in the water to buy later. (It can be fairly awkward to take a selfie underwater, even if you snorkel regularly.) The video is edited into an underwater movie that plays onboard during lunch, so you’ll see your family and new fish friends right after you get out of the water. Cool, right? Yes.
