Join a Lahaina horseback riding tour with Lahaina Stables to enjoy a historic, midday trails ride on Maui’s west side. Located just south of Lahaina Town, Lahaina Stables is easily reachable from any of the main resort areas, but feels worlds away. Deep in the Launiupoko Valley of the West Maui Mountains, the stables offer views from an elite position, on horseback!

Your Lahaina horseback riding excursion checks in at the Lahaina Stables Corral. Enjoy ample parking, full washroom and water cooler. The sun can be strong along this part of the island. Make sure to dress the part! Wear long pants with closed toe shoes and bring sunglasses, sunscreen, hat and camera. Gather with your small group to greet the horses and prep for the adventure that awaits. The guides make sure you are properly fit with your equipment. Listen closely as they go over important tips and safety measures. As true horse people, the leaders have been avid riders for most of their lives. They have an extensive variety of backgrounds in animal science, Hawaiian history, Western and English riding styles. Should you have any questions, feel free to ask them and share in their expertise.

Soak in views of the nearby islands of Lanai and Molokai across the beautiful blue waters of the Pacific. Discover the history of Hawaii’s love affair with sugar cane. Study local plants and animals in the natural area and being to understand the role that horses played in Old Hawaii. The beautiful valley below was once home to ancient Hawaiians who tended the fields of sweet potato and taro (also known as kalo). Later the area became home to many of the Pioneer Mill Plantation family camps. Today the land has returned to nature with the exception of a few luxury homes dotting the landscape.
Pause and take a break at the fresh water mountain reservoir high on the mountain slopes and dismount for drinks and a bite to eat. Talk story with your small group, guides and horses. Make friends and memories you won’t soon forget!

Drive toward the mountains at the Launiupoko Beach Park. Go to the end of the road until you see a roundabout, then turn left onto Haniu St. Go approx. 1 mile & turn right on the second Punakea Loop and go to the top.
