Lanai Scuba Diving is a blast with Hawaiian Rafting Adventures.
Adventure seekers from around the world journey to the Hawaiian Islands to experience for themselves the wonder of Lanai scuba diving! Departing from Mala Boat Ramp in Lahaina onboard a 30 foot rigid raft, you make your quick getaway across the 9-mile channel with the Hawaiian Rafting Adventures crew. Each new Hawaiian day presents itself with a distinctive set of wind and water conditions, and your seasoned captain knows just where to find the best location for your two-tank Lanai scuba diving excursion. Lana’i has exquisite year round conditions, so no matter what time of year you visit the islands, your captain will know how to find the best dive sites.
Popular stops include the First and Second Cathedrals, which have a maximum depth around 65 feet. The lava rock walls shed light through holes in the rock creating what looks like stained glass windows, hence the name. The visibility in this location can often be over 100 feet, and enough ambient light enters for you to see without a dive light. Explore the caverns, caves and lava tubes on this incredible structure dive.
Other famous sites include Shark Fin Rock, Sergeant Major, Monolith and Eagle Ray Bay. Each site has its own personality with the chance to swim through caves and arches, and explore a plethora of rooms and passageways. The lava ridges create small nooks and ledges which are great hiding places for shrimp, lobsters, crabs and eels. At this depth, you may even see rare black coral trees growing from the structures. When you are not entranced with the caverns and tubes, you might also follow abundant sea life living on the reef.
Healthy fish and coral populate the area, with frequent visits from turtles, dolphins and eagle and manta rays. In fact, Captain Steve works with the Manta Pacific Research Foundation in helping to locate and identify the different Maui mantas. Identifying the population can help us to protect these marvelous sites and preserve them for future divers. Digital photos of your excursion are available for viewing right after you get out to of the water on the monitor onboard. Come see why Lanai scuba diving destinations have been consistently voted among the top ten dive sites in the world over the last 25 years!
