The Maui sport fishing adventure of a lifetime awaits you on Lahaina’s first-class, 42 foot highliner Start Me Up! You never know where you’ll voyage while trolling the Maui Nui Basin for game fish. You could pass by any number of incredible Hawaiian islands, including Lanai, Molokai, and Kahoolawe. Aboard Start Me Up!, the piscine goals are mahi mahi (dorado), wahoo (ono), yellowfin tuna (ahi), skipjack tuna, kawakawa, striped marlin, and blue marlin. Wow!
Every day on the water is different with Start Me Up!, as the captain and crew follow the weather, the currents, and their own finely honed gut instincts to seek out the big ones. Unlike the rules on many other Maui sport fishing trips, on this tour you get to keep all the fish you catch. Once you have landed one, you have several options: tag and release it, ask the crew to filet it at the harbor, have it mounted later, or give it to the crew for themselves and their families.
Start Me Up! is one of the quickest boats in Lahaina Harbor, so you’ll spend more time being out there and less time getting out there. All fishing equipment is provided, so bring your sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, camera, and any “lucky charms” you may work with. Also, pack all your food and beverages for the day the night before (most stores aren’t open early on Maui). Ice, coolers, and a restroom are on the boat.
Unlike the fish you plan to catch, the length of your Maui sport fishing trip is up to you. You can ply the blue Pacific for anywhere from 2 to 9 hours in either the morning or afternoon—your choice. Your experienced captain and crew will handle the boat and provide all the fishing equipment, while you enjoy the gorgeous views and watch those rods for movement!
One more thing: if you catch a marlin weighing 500 lbs or more, your Maui sport fishing trip is free AND Start Me Up! gives $300.00 to a Maui charity. Awesome!
