Old Lahaina Luau

Located on the north end of historic Front Street, step back in time to an ancient Hawaiian village with thatched roof huts, tiki torches and oceanfront harbor views. This scenic location is the site of the world renowned Old Lahaina Luau.

Adjacent to the Lahaina Cannery Mall, parking is a breeze for the Old Lahaina Luau. Check in begins nightly an hour before sunset on their oceanfront luau pavilion. Be greeted by your island hostess and ushered to your table by one of the hula dancers. When making your reservation, be sure to inquire about the unique seating options available to your party. The round grass mound stage is the center of the luau grounds, with a two level semi-circle seating arrangement. The lower level next to the stage is Traditional Seating on lauhala fiber mats and low tables. The second level offers tables and chairs, and although further from the stage, you are positioned at a higher level for optimal viewing. In either seating style, you are set with other guests to enjoy the evening with as friends. After all, a luau is a time for celebration! Make sure to stop by the oceanfront to have your sunset photos taken, enjoy the luau grounds and various cultural demonstrations. Once seated, your gracious Old Lahaina Luau server presents you with a specialty drink menu and discusses the evening’s selections. Before you know it, buffet has been opened and your table is called. Prepare for a traditional Hawaiian spread! Enjoy the flavors of the Kalua pork that has been roasted in the beachside Imu (underground oven). Unwrap a fresh laulau; pork that has been wrapped in taro leaf and steamed. In addition to pork, main entrees also include fresh fish, grilled beef, guava marinated chicken as well as sweet potatoes and stirfry vegetables. Make sure to save room on your plate for the local favorites such as LomiLomi salmon, Ahi (yellowfin tuna) Poke, He’e (octopus) Poke, Pohole fern salad, taro leaf stew and poi. Satisfy your sweet tooth with fresh island fruit, passion fruit cake, lavender lemon shortbread cookies, haupia (coconut custuard) and Hawaiian chocolate chili pepper brownies.

Full belly, thirst quenched, and sun set. Watch the Old Lahaina Luau dancers as they chant, sing and hula their way into your heart. A history lesson disguised, learn the tradition of the authentic Hawaiian hula, a dance where the hands tell the story. Soak in the rich culture, as the gentle palm trees sway in the warm ocean breeze-this is Maui at it’s finest.

Check in time September – June  is 5:15pm, July – August 6:15pm.

    :

Lovely setting and very well organized venue. Top notch entertainment. One, if not the only, Luau on Maui that cooks their pig Hawaiian style in the ground. However, I felt the food selections which were many, were not particularly interesting. Open premium bar with many tropical drink selections plus wine and local Maui beer.

    :

Well-organized dinner and show, but many of the classic dances (like the Samoan fire knife dance) were not done, and the rest of Hawaii’s 1300 year history of inhabitation was basically summed up in way to portray the Tahitian invaders of the menehune as victims of American imperialism. With so much history to be proud of, why focus on this?

    :

It was a very nice event. The only suggestion I have is to not do the couples dance. It is very alienating for those of us not in a couple.

    :

New menu was excellent. I felt the fish and beef were dry and held too long. But what do you expect feeding the masses? The shredded pork was juicy and tender. The server and other staff were right on the ball, extremely prompt to meet any needs. The server explained the desserts. All were very tasty. He described the brownies as having chili spice in them. AlI we could taste was a coating of salt on top. I just ate the bottom of the brownie. I missed the old show with Isreal signing Hawaii ’78. It was true to the Hawaiian heritage.

Everything was absolutely AMAZING!!! The minute we stepped onto the property we were immediately transported to another time where we were part of a Hawaiian family gathering. From the greeters to the flowers the authenticity of everything on the grounds before the show started we felt welcomed and genuinely appreciated. I would recommend this Luau to everyone. The food, drinks and service was impeccable. They truly embrace the ALOHA spirit. A definite MUST SEE!!

    :

Food was average at best. Went to the luau for the food and it was not good. I would say the food was barely one step above a golden coral. This made the whole experience not good. The show was ok.

It was wonderful. Well organized! Drinks were amazing and the food was good. A little more seasoning but I suppose that is because you cook in large quantities. Entertainment was very good and informative. Overall. A plus.
