Enjoy a Maui luau in Wailea with Tihati Te Au Moana

Te Au Moana, “The Ocean Tide” is a magnificent Maui luau. Ancient islanders reached new lands by sailing large, double-hulled canoes.  These sturdy craft were built completely out of plant material.  The ancient voyagers arrived in these islands by following ocean tides and currents.  They also followed migrating birds, the colors in clouds, and the steady motion of the stars. This incredible voyaging ability and spirit is what links all Polynesians.

Throughout history, Polynesians were well known for their many skills.  They were and are quite talented in fishing, gathering, romance, the making of bark cloth, and the giving of gifts. Through passionate song and dance, this luau celebrates these abilities!  You are invited to enjoy an extraordinary luau experience like no other.

This show is a premier Maui luau. When you arrive on the grounds, you will be welcomed warmly.  Accept the gift of a bright flower lei or a necklace with a fish hook pendant.  Then, make your way to the festivities!  Enjoy flower crafts and cloth making.  Watch hula and listen to storytelling.  Ask questions of Hawaiian artisans.  Finally, savor a delicious feast while you watch the Ocean Tide Show!

Your children can learn a few steps of the hula—the Hawaiian word for “dance.” They will be invited to observe, join, and imitate this sacred and joyful celebration of life and movement. Be captivated by the fire dancing, singing, and chants. Feast beside the waves of the Pacific.  Nourish yourself with foods eaten throughout the islands for thousands of years.

Buffet Menu: Kalua Pig baked in the imu, teriyaki beef, shoyu chicken, and pasta with seafood. Also fried rice, sweet potatoes, vegetable stir fry, and original mac salad. Try pineapple coleslaw, salmon salad, poi, sweet rolls, and noodle salad.  Includes a fantastic dessert bar with chocolate chip cookies and coconut haupia.

As you decide which of the Maui luaus you wish to experience most, look no further than Te Au Moana. Enjoy!

The meal was good, the show was good, the seats were a bit uncomfortable and the photographer seemed a bit rushed and unconcerned about ensuring everyone was smiling. Overall it was a nice evening.

I could eat the food. Went to other Luaus and did not care for the food. By keeping it simple I (and those at my table) had a great time!

We absolutely LOVED this experience. The only improvement would be for the ladies to have a real flower lei. I would pay $20 more just for that. Of course that wasn’t a deal-breaker, it was just a disappointment as I was really looking forward to that. The food and entertainers were fantastic, the food and bar lines moved quickly. There really didn’t seem to be a bad seat in the house. My 9 and 7 year old really enjoyed themselves!

We weren’t sure we needed to splurge on a “Marriott resort” luau, but I’m so glad we did. We are a family with kids from 21 to 1 yr and it was perfect for all of us. It was everything we had hoped for and was the highlight of our trip.

    :

Need to address parking. We had two cars and there wasn’t any room in parkade. Ended up parking in beach lot a 20 minute walk away. Drove through and asked valet and they never even offered to park our vehicle? Glen (Luau manager maybe?) drove us back to the end of the property so we could go get our vehicle so after walking for 50 minutes we managed to get our vehicles parked. Valet was actually quite rude and seemed far too busy to help. There was one car being parked at the time. The actual Luau was great and we really appreciated the kids activities before the meal.

The Luau was such an amazing experience and is an absolute must if you’re visiting the island of Maui. The food is delicious, the location is very romantic and the dancers are so talented. They also stayed a bit after the show so the spectators could take pictures. This is a great activity for couples as well as families and friends.

The luau was great. We loved the show: hearing about Hawaiian legends, the dancers (the woman who danced the part of Hina and the fire dancer in the finale were particularly wonderful), and the musicians were top notch. The food was great, also the setting and the hospitality.

    :

Be advised front one third of the seating is reserved. The dinner food was ample but not exceptional. The dinner is served by groups of tables. Although the food was adequate, the dessert was mostly gone by the time our table was called. The bartenders were serving Mai tai’s and piña colada’s of which they ran out of. Probably for the best because the men’s bathroom was a long way from the event. The performer’s were friendly and did a nice job.

We were privileged to have a Honeymoon couple, a couple who just returned from Tasminia where their daughter is planning to marry a resident there. The show was one of the best if not the best I have seen. Great narration & Superbad dancers. I recommend this Luau to all.

Tracy a the Mana Kai recommended this luau and helped us book. It was wonderful. We followed her advice and arrived at 4 pm. We had amazing seats without paying for the premium seats. Chairs were sturdy and comfortable. Hog cooked in the Imu was delicious and very interesting to watch it be pulled from the pit. Open bar was easy to access and the drinks were good. Fresh flower lei, Hawaiian crafts to make and purchase. Dancers were amazing and the woman emcee was sincere and lovely. Great value, great sunset view, good food and lots of fun.

The show was captivating, and the food was great. Couldn’t eat it all. The best part was when our youngest granddaughter went right up and did the “Hula” in front of the crowd. Next best thing was the birthday song and best wishes to our 16-yr. old granddaughter. The dancing was nice.

Nice job by performers. Nice job by greeters and bartenders. Disappointed in the food service. There was no ranch dressing in the bowl when we were allowed into the line. And no hint of any service person who cared. See my review on tripadvisor to the same effect.

We had a great timeStaff was great . food was excellent. show was very good. Bar tenders were very good but over pouring on drinks. a slightly better quality alcohol with normal sized 1 1/2 ounce drinks would be better. Especially some local craft bottled beers would have been a huge plus for us !

We are local, so every time we have guests, we go to a luau. This has been my favorite so far. We live in Kihei so to be able to stay on this side of the island was great. It was very easy from check in to the end of the evening. Dinner was buffet style and there were three lines which kept everything moving smoothly. The food was good. Some of the best Pork we’ve had along with the other traditional Hawaiian dishes. The band/show was also good. We will definitely be going back to this one!

Great night at this Luau. Great location. Great drinks, albeit a bit strong,. Outstanding fare and a wonderful show. Also everyone working the Luau was very helpful and nice. We like the historical aspect of the show vs just the song and dance aspect, found in other Luau’s. In addition the fact we could walk to this event made it even more appealing.
