Skyline Eco Adventures Zipline Extravaganza
The Haleakala Zipline Course by Skyline Eco Adventures is the first course that was ever built in the U.S.! Created in 2002 on the slopes of Halekala Volcano, this exciting course consists of 5 lines, a long wooden swinging bridge, and the only pendulum zip (up and back) in all of Maui. So far, they’ve had guests from ages 8 to 98 enjoying their 2 hour adventure course Upcountry. Excellent!
Soar across the Pohakuokala Gulch after leaping from a platform built on the edge of a cliff above a 70 foot drop. Race down a valley that is over a football field long as the valley walls tower above you. Whoop in delight as you run and jump from the ramp style takeoff point on line 3 (conditions being safe for such a run, of course). Your two Skyline Eco Adventures guides will make sure that everything you do is super safe as well as extremely fun!
Each line is named after an endangered Hawaiian bird native to Maui, so you’ll be sure to learn some interesting facts as well as something about the extent of your courage (which is vast, trust me! You wouldn’t be considering this zipline tour without courage, would you?). Speaking of birds, ten years ago, Skyline Eco Adventures staff—with volunteers from all over Maui—used their free time to plant over 2000 trees to reforest part of the slopes that you will fly by, and guess what? The native birds have already started to come back! How cool is that?
The last line you’ll zoom along is named after the fastest bird in Hawaii, and with good reason: you’ll go from zero to 45 mph in four seconds! And you’ll come back quickly, too, because this is not only a super fast line, it’s also the pendulum line! Woo hoo!
