Other plants covering the landscape are guava, eucalyptus, melaleuca, giant Hawaiian ferns, and the red flowering African tulip tree. You will also see the ohialehua tree, which has a romantic and tragic creation myth that your knowledgeable pilot will likely tell you on your trip.
The flight is smooth, and you are apt to forget you are flying in a helicopter at all. You might think there would be a constant loud beating of helicopter blades, but once you are settled inside the cockpit with your headphones on, that sound fades away nicely. If you are bringing the kids, put one child on photo duty and another on drawing the landscape and you’re good to go! TIP: Clouds build as the day progresses, so for the best visibility, book the earliest flight that you can.
