Join the crew of the Strike Zone, a 43’ Delta, for an adventure on the Hawaiian waters. A spectacular way to see Maui from the coastline and soak in some sun, spend the afternoon on a Maui fishing excursion. Avoid the crowds of the early morning, with a 1:30 pm departure from Ma’alaea Harbor. The many morning snorkel excursions have departed, leaving the parking lot empty, which allows for easy parking and check-in to Slip #64.
Enjoy the large, comfortable vessel with room for up to 36 guests and accommodating up to 12 anglers. Friendly and knowledgeable crew members are available to instruct you, should you need help with bait, tackle or technique. This makes it a great trip for families and avid fishermen alike as the crew are familiar with the many nuances of Maui fishing. Strike Zone provides the best equipment available featuring a tournament series fighting chair, GPS, fish finder and Penn International Gold rods and reels.
To maximize your time and effort, bottom fishing tours also toss out the trolling lines for big game fish, as some of the more productive spots are up to an hour away. Maui fishing destinations vary greatly on based on the Captain’s intuition, years of knowledge of weather and fish patterns and the crew keeps watchful eyes on the water for signs of fish. Big game fish include incredible catches like the Pacific blue marlin, with the world record catch at 1372 pounds! Other trophy fish include the striped and black marlin, skipjack and yellowfin tuna, and the mahi mahi or dolphin fish. Bottom fish are often much smaller such as the red or pink snapper, seabass, wrasses and ulua.
With bottom fishing, you get to keep your catch! Should another larger fish be caught during big game sport fishing, it will be fileted up for you and the other guests onboard to take home for dinner. Many of the restaurants in the area will even cook your catch! Or try the simple recipes that the captain and crew will share with you – they know what they are talking about. Bring home fish to eat for the day, and fishing memories to last a lifetime.
