Aloha! If you’ve made it to Maui, you likely know that you are standing on part of a unique island chain. Much of the beauty you stand witness to is created by the sea—the beating of the waves against the volcanic rock, the coral reefs growing in the shallows, and the surface of the ocean reflecting the dazzling sunset colors. The list of things you can do here in, on, and above the ocean are almost as long as a humpback whale song, and you will see below that Maui ocean activities are as varied as the fish in the sea.

If you want to see beneath the waves, you’ll be looking at three types of trips: our incredible snorkeling tours to Molokini and Lanai, our scuba diving trips, and our submarine excursions. The fish you’ll see here look like they swam right out of a stained glass window; they are almost too beautiful to comprehend. You’ll love watching the sea creatures whether you float above them, swim beside them, or watch them through an enormous viewing window.

When it comes to Maui ocean activities on top of the waves, our surfing lessons are a big favorite! Learn how to understand which waves are catchable, and then learn how to catch them with our fabulous instructors.

Increasing the vessel size just a bit, our kayak tours are essential for those who want to get close to the wildlife, explore relatively quietly, and work their upper body at the same time!

When it comes to romantic Maui ocean activities, sailing tours are an excellent choice. Sunset sails have excellent music and fantastic drinks, and with your love beside you and the tropical sunset above, everything feels just right!

Relaxation, good food, and dancing abound on the lovely dinner cruises. Many of these trips have round trip transportation from your hotel, as well! If you’d prefer to catch your own dinner, however, you’ll want to cast out a line on one of our outstanding fishing trips. You can leave early in the morning or later in the afternoon to try your luck with the big ones!

Sea thrill seekers, look no further: you’ve got to go parasailing above the Pacific! They’ll get you over 45 stories high and then dip your toes into the sea. Also, consider taking a jet ski for a spin to really make some waves—you’ll have 100 acres of ocean at your disposal! Both of these exciting rides can happen for you any day from mid-April to mid-December. The rest of the year, however, the ocean is reserved for migrating whales.
